Elections:

The Election Officials (the Circuit Clerk and Election Commission) are tasked with voter registration, voter roll maintenance, qualification of local candidates, appointment of poll managers, approval of ballots/testing of voting devices, conduct of elections, and certification of election results. For Election Commissioner information, click here.


The following is a list of polling places and addresses for Sunflower County Elections. We are responsible for conducting National, State and County (Local) Election. Municipal Elections are conducted by Municipal Election Officials. You should contact your City Clerk to find out where you vote when you have a City Election. Normally City Elections occur every four years, and it is common for a different polling place to be utilized for Municipal Polling Place. Before you vote in an election and not sure where to vote contact the Circuit Clerk’s office and we will assist you.

Poll Managers Duties and Responsibilities



Poll Managers are required by law to receive training once every year and required to take an online training govern by the Secretary of State office.  All Poll Managers shall ensure the election is conducted fairly and agreeable to law; and they shall be judges of the qualifications of electors.  They resolve any challenges to voters and other the additional duties listed below. (Miss. Code Ann. 23-15-233)


Poll Managers are primarily responsible for:



  • Safeguarding all election materials.
  • Ensuring only qualified voters are permitted to vote and each qualified voter is permitted to vote only once.
  • Verifying acceptable photo identification is presented by each voter.
  • Verifying the picture on the presented photo identification fairly depicts the voter.
  • Verifying the name on the presented photo identification is substantially similar to the voter’s name as it appears on the pollbook.
  • Distributing ballots.
  • Ensuring all votes are cast in secret

Poll Managers are also responsible for the following:



  • Verifying each voter’s name in the pollbook and writing “VOTED” in appropriate space.
  • Having the voter sign the receipt book.
  • Providing voter information.
  • Deciding challenges to the qualifications of voters.
  • Providing voter instructions.
  • Ballot cancellation.
  • Completing reporting requirements at the end of the election.
